Register for "Jacksonian America"

October 18, 2024, 8:30 AM CT - 2:30 PM CT | Hosted by: The Oakridge School | Arlington, TX | Discussion Leader: Dan Monroe

Andrew Jackson is either defined by his times or is held up as the clearest example of them. This seminar will consider his ascendancy to President, its historical context as well as two of his more controversial policies; the Bank War and the Nullification Crisis. Join us around the table for this compelling conversation.

This program will be conducted as a discussion, utilizing primary documents as the only readings with the professor facilitating the conversation instead of lecturing. Registrants are highly encouraged to read all the documents in advance and come ready with questions. Participants will receive a Letter of Attendance at the end of the day.

"It gave me a better understanding of the Founders’ views. They saw that restricting religious liberty is not only wrong; it leads to animosity within society. This year, I will begin both my government class and my class on “Law and Modern Society” with George Washington’s Letter to the Hebrew Congregation at Newport." — Sean B.
