Register for "Robber Barons or Captains of Industry"

September 27, 2024, 8:30 AM CT - 2:30 PM CT | Hosted by: Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Museum | Enid, OK | Discussion Leader: Proffesor Will Atto

Revisit the Gilded Age, or Age of Enterprise as some historians call it and read deeply about the ideas, actions, and legacies of the leading political and industrial figures of the times, exploring the question of whether these individuals are properly portrayed as either 'Robber Barons' or 'Captains of Industry' - or perhaps, fragments of both.

This program will be conducted as a conversation utilizing primary source documents as the only readings, and with a Professor Atto only facilitating the conversation. Registrants are highly encouraged to read the documents and come with questions. All attendees will receive a Letter of Attendance.

"It gave me a better understanding of the Founders’ views. They saw that restricting religious liberty is not only wrong; it leads to animosity within society. This year, I will begin both my government class and my class on “Law and Modern Society” with George Washington’s Letter to the Hebrew Congregation at Newport." — Sean B.
