One Document, One Hour: "The Final Emancipation Proclamation"

May 17, 2021, 3:20 PM PT - 4:40 PM PT | Hosted by: Garden Grove Unified School District *HELD ONLINE

We’re excited to announce One Document, One Hour, a new series from Teaching American History. If you’ve ever wanted to discuss history with a group of like-minded people, these seminars are for you! In each session, we’ll discuss one great American speech and its lasting effects on our politics and culture. With only one document to read beforehand and one hour of discussion, participation has never been so simple.

Study this seminal American document from a fresh perspective, taking into account the original draft submitted to the Continental Congress and the revisions and changes - some minor, some significant - made to it before it was adopted in the form universally known since.

All attendees of this free Seminar will be provided with a certificate for continuing education and a digital copy of the agenda and document.

"It gave me a better understanding of the Founders’ views. They saw that restricting religious liberty is not only wrong; it leads to animosity within society. This year, I will begin both my government class and my class on “Law and Modern Society” with George Washington’s Letter to the Hebrew Congregation at Newport." — Sean B.
