"LBJ and Vietnam" [CANCELED]

Lyndon Johnson took office in the wake of JFK’s assassination, and had focused much of his political career on social issues. The growing problem of American involvement in Vietnam, as well as established foreign policy, however, demanded his attention and efforts. Study LBJ’s understanding of the Vietnam War, as well as how his policy toward it evolved over time, and how it was understood by others, including the American public. This Seminar will be conducted using only primary sources, and through discussion.
