Study the evolving relationship between presidents and political parties through case studies of three eras of American history: during the early Republic; in the mid-19th Century, and during the Progressive Era. Teachers will work through a series of original documents from a variety of authors, and will gain a deeper understanding of the shifting balance of power between these political institutions and the individuals who serve as president.
